As technology improved, so did the quality in Kids TV and the Top 6 Kids TV Theme’s from the 90’s are a set of real beauties. Some of these cartoons lasted well in to the 20th century, others lasted barely a year, but all of them have epic, EPIC theme tunes. This was the hardest category of all to do, there are some absolute classics that didn’t male this list.
Bucky O’Hare and the Toad Wars
Aired in 1991 Bucky O’Hare and the Toad Wars aired for only 13 episodes, thats it. Although its run may have been short Captain Bucky O’Hare of the frigate Righteous Indignation left us with one of the most awesome theme tunes of all time, and a wierd perception that Rabbits may be green.
Whacko, Dot and Yacko headed the most bizarre animated sketch show that gave birth not only to the Animaniacs themselves but other such sketches that would go on to have success in their own right, such as the inimitable Pinky and the Brain. The show lasted an impressive 5 years and 99 episodes.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
These 5 or 6 (depending on which series you watched) Teenagers with attitude spawned a movie, countless spinoffs and various points of self congratulatory horse baolney to boot. The guitar work on the theme tune though is not to be messed with!
Captain Planet and the Planeteers
Airing between 1993 and 1996 this show featured the vocal talents of Levar Burton and Whoopi Goldberg for a time, Incredible really. This show taught kids the value of saving our planet and spawned a whole new wave of recylcing campaigns and hippies…. I hate hippies.
A Soccer team that flies around the world, most plays against an evil team and foils evil deads with the power of a footy. Bloody Genius I tell ya! Shorts are a bit short though!
Who lives in a Pinapple under the sea? Absorbent and yellow and porous is he? If nautical nonsense be something you wish. Then drop on the deck and flop like a fish. SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS! He isn’t square though… Just pointing that out.
