The Big Bang Theory

Created by writer/producers Chuck Lorre of Two and a Half Men fame and Bill Prady who was responsible for Gilmore Girls comes The Big Bang Theory, a sitcom that shows what happens when hyperintelligent physicist roommates Sheldon and Leonard meet Penny, a beautiful woman that moves in next door–and realise they know hardly anything about life outside of the lab. Rounding out the characters are the smarmy Wolowitz, who thinks he’s as sexy as he is brainy, and Koothrappali, who suffers from an inability to speak in the presence of women. The show stands out by the brilliant way it is unafraid to throw scientific references and technobabble into an otherwise standard sitcom format, even employing a physicist on set to keep it authentic. In doing so, it allows Sheldon and Leonard to hopefully do for science what the Crane brothers from Frasier did for fine dining, art, and opera. The shows theme song is “The History of Everything” by Barenaked Ladies
