Texas style rub for beef – BBQ brisket or roasting joint

Here’s a rub for beef that’s good on BBQ brisket but also good on a standard beef joint to make an interesting change.

Mix all the ingredients together and store in a screw top jar.

When ready to use rub a decent amount into the beef and leave for 20-30 mins before cooking or Q’ing.

It’s definitely worth getting in some of the one blend chilli powders as they give a depth of smoky flavor – you can get them in the spice section of most super markets.

You will need:

3 Tbsp coarsely ground black pepper

1 Tbsp onion powder

2 Tsp English mustard powder

2 Tsp garlic powder

2 Tsp chilli or Ancho chili powder

1 Tsp Chipotle chilli or cayenne powder

1 Tbsp granulated white sugar
